Apple Watch Series 7 to be delayed
- The Apple Watch Series 7 could be delayed due to manufacturing issues.
- Apple is still expected to announce the new model at the September event, but could push back the release date.
The new design is causing manufacturing challenges and has forced Apple to temporarily small-scale production, which began last week. Engineers will attempt “to further certify the designs” before mass production begins later this month.
The Apple Watch Series 7 will have a flat design with larger screens and is rumored to use a new lamination technique for the displays, which, unlike the Apple Watch Series 6 and older models, will not have a slight curve on the edges.
According to Nikkei Asia, one reason for the delayed production is the blood pressure capabilities arriving on the new model. This must “meet requirements” in terms of performance in wet conditions.
Apple could announce the Apple Watch Series 7 at the September event, rumored to be held on Tuesday 14th September, but could choose to release it later than planned. It may also release limited numbers of models at first, to allow suppliers to cope with any production challenges.
