Apple enables reviews for its own apps, and users are having their say
- You can now leave reviews and star ratings on Apple’s own apps.
- Podcasts, Apple News and Translate have poor reviews from users.
It means that you can leave a review or star rating on any Apple app that ships with iOS 15, like Apple News, Stocks, Music, Podcasts and calculators.
While ratings differ per country, in the U.S, Podcasts is currently the worst-rated Apple app at 2.0 stars, followed by Translate with a rating of 2.2. Apple Music is rated at 3.7, and the highest is currently Voice Memos, at 4 stars.
Apple Scoop has seen dozens of fake or ‘generic’ reviews with one-star reviews seemingly made with no purpose. However, users are also leaving honest feedback for recently-updated apps like Weather, Podcasts and Apple TV.
In iOS 15, Weather was updated with a new design and more detailed information, notification support, and maps for precipitation, temperature and air quality. It has been well-received based on reviews left in the App Store.
It’s not possible to leave a rating or review on core apps that cannot be removed, like Phone, Messages and Camera.
