Delivery is now taking months for iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models, announced by Apple in October. By contrast, the standard iPhone 12 and 12 mini are available for immediate delivery on Apple’s websites.

In the US, stock of Apple's two most powerful phones slipped dramatically - with most carriers, retailers and networks listing either no stock, low stock or extended delivery dates. Many retailers in the US are now listing late December or early January as the next restock date.

The delivery speed isn’t much better on Apple’s international stores either, with Apple’s Chinese website typically showing delivery times of 3-4 weeks for iPhone 12 Pro models and 1-2 weeks for Pro Max models. Its U.K. arm shows a 2-3 week delivery time for the iPhone 12 Pro and 2-week delivery times for the Pro Max. Meanwhile, Apple’s Japanese website currently shows a delivery window between Dec. 26 and Jan. 5 for both Pro and Pro Max models.

This comes just one day after Eric Jhonsa from TheStreet wrote a report about the iPhone 12's strong demand ahead of Christmas. The report noted that with Christmas two weeks away, Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models were back-ordered into January on Apple’s U.S. website.

These long shipping times underscore higher than expected demand for Apple’s higher end models. As we previously reported, demand for iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max in particular was “higher than expected,” according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (reliability: 80.95%).
