Apple launches repair program for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models with sound issues
- The latest service program is for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models with sound problems.
- Affected devices were produced between October 2020 and April 2021.
- Users with issues are eligible for a free repair.
Apple says that a “very smaller percentage” of customers are affected, and devices eligible will be manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. The issues with audio are caused by a faulty component on the receiver inside the device.
iPhone owners who are experiencing the issues described can book a repair at an Apple retail store, through an Apple Authorised Service Provider or via Apple Support for a mail-in repair.
A very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module
However, customers with an iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro that has damage that prevents the repair from being completed will need to undergo a repair before being eligible for a repair for sound issues. Apple advises customers to backup their device before the service.
iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max devices are not included in this service program.
