Gurman: iPhone 14 to get a ‘complete redesign’
- The iPhone 14 lineup may feature a complete redesign.
- This would include replacing the notch with a hole-punch camera and more.
- The iPhone 14 lineup is expected to drop the mini model in favor of a new Max model.
This is not the first time that we have heard about a redesign for the iPhone 14. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (reliability: 80.95%) has already said that Apple will drop the notch next year in favor of a hole-punch camera, similar to that on popular Android phones of the last few years.
YouTuber and leaker John Prosser (reliability: 88.46%) also recently weighed in on these rumors and said that he has seen real-life images of the iPhone 14 with no notch. As for the lineup, Apple is expected to get rid of the mini model entirely and replace it with a new Max model, leaving the lineup at four models: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
It is unclear whether Apple will include under-display Touch ID in these iPhones, and Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple is working on the technology but it may not be ready for production until 2023. Speaking of the future, Apple is not expected to include a much anticipated foldable iPhone in the 2022 lineup but may gain a foldable in the 2024 iPhone lineup.
