  • A mysterious Apple TV slip may have just spoiled the iPhone 17 launch date.
  • Four new iPhones are rumored—including a slim new “Air” model.
  • Expect fresh Apple Watches, upgraded AirPods, and maybe one surprise too.
  • Pre-orders could kick off September 12, with launch day not far behind.

Apple’s fall keynote has become one of the most predictable fixtures in the tech calendar—and this year appears no different. Multiple reports, leaks, and even a possible slip-up from Apple itself point to Tuesday, September 9, 2025, as the launch date for the iPhone 17 lineup.Apple's next iPhones may be announced as soon as September 9, just weeks away.Photo via Reddit // Apple's next iPhones may be announced as soon as September 9, just weeks away.

iPhone 17 Lineup

Four models are said to be on the way:

  • iPhone 17 (standard)
  • iPhone 17 Air (a new, slimmer addition)
  • iPhone 17 Pro
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max

All four devices are expected to carry the A19 chip, boosting performance and enabling new AI-powered features tied to iOS 26. The “Air” branding marks an interesting shift—Apple hasn’t used it on an iPhone before, though it has long been associated with its laptops and tablets.

Release Date

September 9 has been rumored for months, but what made headlines recently was a supposed mistake on the Apple TV app, where a search listing briefly showed “Apple Event – September 9” before being taken down.

Tipster Apple Leaker highlighted the incident on X (formerly Twitter), also sharing what looked like an Apple event invite showing a glowing Apple logo on a purple background. While authenticity hasn’t been confirmed, the design was strikingly similar to artwork Apple has used in MacBook Air wallpapers.

Apple hasn’t commented, but even without the leak, the date makes sense. The company has historically favored early September Tuesdays for iPhone announcements.

Keynote Timeline

If Apple follows its usual cadence, the weeks around the keynote will likely unfold as follows:

Event Announcement

  • Expected: Tuesday, August 26, 2025 (possibly August 27)
  • Apple typically issues press invitations about two weeks before the keynote.

Apple Keynote

  • Expected: 10 a.m. PT, Tuesday, September 9, 2025
  • Likely held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino.

Pre-Orders Open

  • Expected: 5 a.m. PT, Friday, September 12, 2025
  • As in past years, Apple should open pre-orders the Friday following the event.

iOS 26 General Release

  • Expected: Monday, September 15, 2025 (or Tuesday, September 16)
  • The software will roll out broadly, reaching devices as far back as the iPhone 11.

iPhone 17 Release Day

  • Expected: Friday, September 19, 2025, at 7 a.m. local time
  • New models should be available both online and in Apple retail stores worldwide.

More Hardware Beyond iPhones

Apple Watch Series 11

The Apple Watch Series 11 should debut with watchOS 26. While not a dramatic redesign, new software features and possibly updated colors or bands are expected.

Apple Watch Ultra 3

Two years after the Ultra 2, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is tipped to bring bigger changes: faster charging, a larger display, and potentially 5G and satellite connectivity.

Apple Watch SE 3

The third-generation Apple Watch SE may see incremental updates—possibly a larger screen and even a plastic-cased version aimed at affordability.

AirPods Pro 3

The AirPods Pro 3 may keep the same look but introduce health sensors such as body temperature and heart rate monitoring. If accurate, this would transform them from pure audio devices into health-tracking companions.

Why This Event Matters

Apple’s fall events are always heavily scrutinized, but this year’s could be especially packed. A refreshed iPhone lineup with the addition of the iPhone 17 family, multiple Apple Watch models, and upgraded AirPods suggest Apple is entering the holiday season with a full ecosystem push. And while most details are already trickling out through leaks, Apple usually saves at least one headline feature for the keynote itself. That’s part of the reason fans and competitors alike will be watching so closely.

At a Glance

  • iPhone 17 lineup (iPhone 17, Air, Pro, Pro Max, all with A19 chip)

  • Apple Watch Ultra 3 with larger display, faster charging, possible 5G/satellite features
  • Apple Watch SE 3 with rumored bigger screen and plastic version

Apple hasn’t officially confirmed the September 9 date, but between the Apple TV app mishap, circulated invites, and the company’s own history, it seems all but set in stone. The countdown to Apple’s next big reveal has effectively begun.
