September 9 has been rumored for months, but what made headlines recently was a supposed mistake on the Apple TV app, where a search listing briefly showed “Apple Event – September 9” before being taken down.
Tipster Apple Leaker highlighted the incident on X (formerly Twitter), also sharing what looked like an Apple event invite showing a glowing Apple logo on a purple background. While authenticity hasn’t been confirmed, the design was strikingly similar to artwork Apple has used in MacBook Air wallpapers.
Apple hasn’t commented, but even without the leak, the date makes sense. The company has historically favored early September Tuesdays for iPhone announcements.
