Apple launches new privacy ‘nutrition labels’ for their own apps
- Apple has launched a new website section that lists all of the specific data collection practices for the company's first-party apps in one place.
- The new privacy tab debuted on Thursday, and includes every single Apple app available.
- Apple notes that across all of its apps, it doesn't track users.
The new privacy tab debuted on Thursday, and includes every single Apple app available; from Xcode to iWork apps such as Keynote and Pages. On their new webpage, Apple notes that across all of its apps, it doesn't track users. The company says that's because it holds itself to a higher standard than third-party developers on the App Store.
Apple launched its App Store privacy "nutrition labels" in December 2020. The feature is just one part of a push by Apple to protect the privacy of its users, which also includes App Tracking Transprancy — a feature which will require users to opt-in to being tracked across other apps and websites. App Tracking Transparency is slated to launch in early spring.
