Watch: Apple CEO Tim Cook speaks about privacy at CPDP Conference
Following this, Apple published a video this Tuesday which featured Tim Cook speaking on privacy as an opening remark from Apple. In the 12 minute video, Tim expressed his concern as well as Apple’s commitment to the privacy and data security of its users. He even argued that digital advertising companies have been acquiring unnecessary data related directly with user’s personal life. Although Cook didn’t mention Facebook directly, he did condemn companies that use privacy breaches as a business model.
Furthermore, he added that Apple stays firm with its commitment of protecting users privacy through new App Store privacy labels and a new App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature. App Tracking Transparency is set to be in action with iOS 14.5 later this spring. It will basically force developers to explicitly require permission from the user for any kind of data collection or tracking, even across other apps or websites.
Finally, he said technology is meant to assist and make a person’s life better than ever and it shouldn’t be allowed to govern a person.
