Apple’s new iPad Pro may be as powerful as an M1 Mac
- Apple is allegedly preparing to release a significant processor upgrade for this year’s iPad Pro.
- Gurman described this year’s iPad Pro chips as “on par with the M1 chip in the latest Macs.”
- Apple’s next iPad Pro could launch as soon as March — likely via a special event or press release.
Back in 2020, the first Apple laptops with custom silicon chips changed the personal computer industry. By switching to ARM chips, Apple was able to improve performance significantly, while also providing further benefits like a fanless design, instant wake, and greatly improved battery life. By design, all of Apple’s iPad Pro devices so far have been introduced with custom Apple-designed silicon. However, these new rumors suggest that Apple’s next iPad Pro will leapfrog its predecessors in terms of speed and performance.
