NordVPN now supported on Apple Silicon Macs
- The popular VPN has been updated with native support for Apple Silicon
- The update is fully available today after the roll out started on August 3
The VPN will now run natively on Apple silicon Macs, like the M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini and 24-inch iMac. The update started rolling out on August 3 but is now available to all users as a free download from the App Store or NordVPN website, the company confirmed today.
NordVPN is the latest mainstream app to add support for Apple Silicon, following Microsoft’s decision to update Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other apps, and Adobe’s continued roll out of support in Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier Pro and its full suite of pro-focused apps.
It means that the app will now run with no Rosetta 2 translation required, improving performance and running more efficiently on M1 Macs. NordVPN has also been made a universal app, so it can run on Intel and Apple Silicon machines and receive updates at the same time.
