  • A redesigned iMac Pro is rumored to launch this Spring.
  • It could feature a more powerful configuration than the new MacBook Pro models.

Apple will release a major update to the high-end iMac this year. This is expected to be called the iMac Pro, and will replace the current 27-inch model, which is one of Apple's last devices to be updated with Apple Silicon.

According to Dylandkt, the iMac Pro will feature the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips unveiled alongside the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models last year. However, it could also feature at least one additional configuration with a 12-core option. This will take advantage of the additional space and ventilation of the larger body.

The leaker suggests that the new iMac will launch sometime in Spring, but indicated it could be delayed until later this year, potentially September as a 'worst case scenario'.

In April last year, Apple released a redesigned iMac with a 24-inch display, more colour options, thinner bezels and an M1 chip. The upcoming iMac Pro will likely have a similar design, but could come in darker colours and will be aimed at professionals.

Apple is also expected to unveil a redesigned Mac mini, Mac Pro and new MacBook Air sometime in 2022.
