WhatsApp working on reactions and redesigned chat bubbles for iOS app

WhatsApp is working on emoji reactions for messages.
It is also working on redesigning chat bubbles for the WhatsApp iOS app.
These features are still in development.

After rolling out the ability to transfer chat history between its iOS and Android apps recently, WhatsApp is now reportedly working on adding reactions to its iOS app alongside slightly redesigned chat bubbles.

• When you send a reaction, you can select any emoji.
• Messages can have an infinite amount of reactions, but if you have more than 999 reactions, you will read "999+".
• Everyone can see who reacted to a message.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s approach for reactions is different from Apple’s approach and more similar to what is available on Instagram, where you can use an emoji to react. Similar to on iMessage, reactions are not anonymous, and other users can see who reacted with what emoji. As for WhatsApps’ redesigned chat bubbles, WABetaInfo says they are “more rounded and feature a new green color.” The redesign also features bigger image and link previews.

Both of these new features are reportedly still in development and are not yet available in WhatsApp’s public betas. The WhatsApp iOS app is available from the App Store.
