  • Apple has released new firmware updates for the AirPods 2, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. In addition, Apple has provided updates for various Beats headphones.
  • The new update adds the long-awaited Find My integration for the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

We’ve reported frequently about updates to iOS, macOS, iPadOS and other. However, Apple also releases firmware updates for other devices in its ecosystem. For example, for its earphone line-up AirPods 2, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, Beats Solo Pro, Powerbeats 4 and Powerbeats Pro. The AirPods mentioned should work with version 4A400 from now on. Users are now reporting that the update brings the Find My Integration for the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, which Apple announced some time ago. This means that the U1 chip in the headphones now sends out a continuous signal as soon as an Apple device is nearby and the associated app also provides a UI for finding it.

The headphones can still be put into lost mode, in which you can put your contact details, should it really happen to be lost. Apple has also updated their support article.

Unfortunately, the update cannot be installed manually, it happens more or less randomly when you pair the headphones. Usually, it doesn't take too long until the new software is on the devices.
