Why downloads behave differently
Different browsers save images in different places. Safari on iPhone shows a blue Download arrow; Chrome on Android places files in the Downloads app; Mac saves to your Downloads folder by default. If you’re setting the wallpaper on another device (e.g., downloaded on Mac, applying on iPhone), AirDrop, iCloud Photos, Google Photos, or USB transfer works great.

- Can I AirDrop from my Mac to my iPhone?
- Yes. Open the downloaded image on your Mac, click Share → AirDrop, choose your iPhone, then on iPhone tap Use as Wallpaper.
- Where did my download go on iPhone?
- Tap the small blue Download arrow in Safari’s toolbar → Downloads → your file → Save Image. It’s now in Photos.
- What file types are supported?
- JPG/PNG/WEBP are widely supported across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android, Windows, ChromeOS, and most Linux desktops.
- Do these steps work for older versions?
- Yes. Naming may differ slightly, but the flow (download → open → set as wallpaper/background) is the same.
