Next — gen iPhone SE and AirPods Pro expected to be released in April
- AirPods Pro are expected to get a slight redesign.
- iPhone SE is expected to have a size similar to the iPhone 8 Plus.
- Both products are likely to be announced in Q2 of 2021, around April.
The new second-generation AirPods Pro are rumored to feature a redesigned charging case, as cited by Chinese supply chain sources. This new case is expected to have a height of 46mm and width of 54mm, while retaining a 21mm thickness. This seems like a somewhat minimalistic redesign, considering that the current AirPods Pro case has a 45.2mm of height and 64.6mm of width.
As previously reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (reliability: 84.38%), Apple is allegedly aiming for a more compact design with AirPods Pro by eliminating the stem that currently sticks out from the bottom. Elimination of the stem would make for a more rounded design, which has allegedly been in testing for quite some time. However, it’s unclear whether Apple will manage to pull it off or not, mainly due to the sheer amount of internal components that are required to fit inside. If the reports are to be trusted, then we can see these rumored second-generation AirPods Pro as soon as April. The current AirPods Pro have been out since October 2019, making them over a year and a half old.
When it comes to the iPhone SE third-generation, it’s still unclear what the specs are going to be. However, some rumors suggest that it’s likely to feature a 5.5 inch display similar to that of the iPhone 8 Plus. According to analyst Ming Chi Kuo (reliability: 80.95%), this iPhone will launch in the second quarter of 2021, just a year after the release of the iPhone SE second-generation.
Both of these new products are expected to be announced via press release, as they are both considered to be only slight upgrades over their predecessors.

Another "too big to be retina" display. It’s clear the third parties aren’t stepping up. Apple needs to release a consumer/prosumer level external Retina display.
