Apple new offering annual AppleCare+ subscriptions for new Mac owners.
- AppleCare+ extended coverage updates are coming to Mac
- Bloomberg mentioned this change in their Power On newsletter.
New Mac owners have had the ability to sign up for AppleCare+ on an annual basis from their computer for about a month, but the option is now available at Apple retail locations, the online Apple Store and via phone.
Bloomberg noted in their Power On newsletter that the annual AppleCare+ subscription for a new 16-inch MacBook Pro would run you $140 a year, compared to $380 for Apple’s three-year plan. Customers who choose to keep the annual subscription for three years end up paying a $40 premium, and on the other end of the spectrum, the premium for a 13-inch MacBook Air runs for $10 over the same period.
Apple’s new coverage structure for Mac arrived roughly 4 months after Apple introduced an option to extend the existing AppleCare+ plan beyond the normal three-year period. Mac owners will now have the option to add a year of coverage, which will be renewed annually within 30 days after the original plans' expiration.
