First spotted by the team over at Patently Apple, we now know that Apple has patented technology for a head mounted display lens system with 3D LiDAR sensors, as well as a series of patents related to Apple Car. There are also several other miscellaneous inventions amongst the 73 that were granted today. We have added a table of patents at the end of the article, provided by Patently Apple.

Here are some details about the patents published today, starting with Apple’s head mounted display (or HMD):

Another key aspect of this invention is the use of using 3D LiDAR sensors. Each lens element may be formed from any desired transparent material (e.g., glass, a polymer material such as polycarbonate or acrylic, a crystal such as sapphire, etc.).” - Patently Apple
